What would a typical day on the job be like? What work would I do? Are you looking for an opportunity to gain real world experience with water systems, civil/environmental engineering, construction, and project management? Newport News Waterworks department is looking for an intern in their Production division. This intern will work on projects within the water treatment plants and water system, conduct inspections of assets within the system, help manage construction work, and work on a pilot-scale research experiment. How much money can I make? The rate of pay for this internship will be $15.00 - $20.00 per hour. What are the qualifications for this position? This internship requires at least a high school understanding of math and science. Knowledge of hydraulics, construction, technical drawing, and technical writing are preferred. Ability to climb ladders and navigate construction sites are a requirement. The intern must be over the age of 18 and acceptable general background checks to include a local and state criminal history check and sex offender registry check. What type of schedule would I work and how long? This position is a summer internship starting May 2024 and ending in August 2024. The position will average approximately 40 hours a week.
