Development Operations Engineer

• Develop, maintain, and scale infrastructure to support both software development and deployment needs. • Design and implement CI/CD pipelines, with a focus on automation and reliability. • Maintain existing COTS software used within the NRTIO environment – including working with software vendors directly to facilitate easier maintenance for the future. • Assist in the maintenance of the RHEL environment in which NRTIO software is deployed. • Assist in identifying and replacing legacy NRTIO software (e.g., bash scripts, Java applications, CLI-tools, etc.) with updated and more maintainable software where applicable. • Provide general software development support as directed by the needs of the customer. • Respond to critical system incidents as needed outside of standard business hours to ensure high system availability. • Participate in a daily standup meeting and engage with the NRTIO team’s Kanban board to track work being completed.

Required Qualifications:

• 3 or more years of relevant professional experience. • DoD 8570 - IAT Level II Certification (e.g. Security+ CE) – if no certification, must be able to attain certification within 90 days of offer acceptance. • Advanced proficiency with Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL) server: • Command line expertise. • Routine server maintenance. • Server automation using Terraform and Ansible. • Solid experience with CI/CD tools (e.g., Jenkins, GitLab CI) for building and maintaining automated build/deploy pipelines. • Demonstrable experience with infrastructure as code for managing and provisioning cloud resources. • Skilled in containerization technologies and orchestration with Kubernetes or Docker. • Networking/IP skills with a clear understanding of modern network architectures. • Proficient in database management, specifically MySQL and/or PostgreSQL. • Experience with LDAP, specifically leveraging OpenLDAP as a directory server. • Willingness to engage with software development tasks, including the maintenance of legacy code and development of code improvements

Preferred Qualifications:

• Education: CS or IT related Bachelor’s Degree. • Familiarity with code versioning tools, particularly Git. • Proficiency in scripting languages such as Python or Bash for automation tasks. • Understanding of application-level security. • Experience in proactive system monitoring tools (e.g., Grafana) and strategies. • Knowledge of logging and log analysis systems (e.g., ELK stack). • Proficiency in Java and/or C# programming, with the ability to understand, maintain, and contribute to applications built on these languages and their respective frameworks. • Ability to perform incident management and conduct root cause analysis. • AWS Cloud services experience. • Experience working in a DevSecOps team environment. • Proficiency in Microsoft Office suite. • Jira experience. • US Citizenship. • Active DoD Secret Clearance.

The team provides operational support for the Biometric Collection Capability (BC2) comprised of biometric collection systems, biometric jump kits, hand-held devices, and Very Small Aperture Satellites as well as field service representatives forward in an overseas environment. The successful candidate will oversee the integration, maintenance, and monitoring of software of the Biometric System of Systems capability, ensure constant availability of all technical resources, and provide technical direction to IT support staff. It’s a high-level role of eliciting/divining/negotiating/arbitrating/influencing stakeholder requirements/concerns and developing the architecture and roadmap of biometric systems. • With a strong IT baseline, the ideal candidate will gain detailed knowledge on biometric software and hardware and be in a strategic position to assist our warfighters in ensuring all systems are 100% ready to successfully conduct biometric missions.
