The Landscape Planner in the Parks and Recreation Department, will assist with the procurement and management of contracted landscape services, to include landscape installation and maintenance and arboricultural and pest management services for citywide sites. In this position, you will prepare bid packages, maintain appropriate records and monitor budgets for all annual contracting. Supervision of contractors and work zone safety measures will be part of your responsibilities. You will have the opportunity to design, coordinate and review landscaping site plans for a variety of City locations, parks and ensure compliance with applicable City zoning ordinances, site regulations, design specifications and standards. The Landscape Planner coordinates reviews of design recommendations, as appropriate. Prepares landscape plans and GIS maps to include concept, design, cost analysis, bidding, award and installation. Coordination with City departments and contractors regarding questions dealing with site layout and design will be part of your job duties. You will also assist staff in the preparation of reports, requests for proposals, creating landscape designs and renovations of existing landscapes. The Landscape Planner will perform field survey site inspections on existing and proposed improvements, compile site information, and will prepare reports and supporting graphic display materials using a variety of software. How much money can I make? In the Landscape Planner position, you could make a competitive salary ranging from $53,271.04 – $62,535.56. Salary ranges are competitive based on education and experience. What are the qualifications for this position? This position requires a Bachelor's degree in Landscape Architecture, Urban Design, Horticulture, Botany, Environmental Science or any Earth/Physical Science; and 5-7 years of experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Experience with an emphasis on Landscape Design and related horticulture, grounds maintenance or pesticide applicator certification is preferred. Acceptable general background checks to include a local and state criminal history check, sex offender registry check, and a valid driver’s license with an acceptable driving record will also be required.
