Your Career At Federated Wireless, you’ll work on cutting-edge wireless tech, geospatial analytics, and AI-driven optimization—real innovation. Join a team that values creativity, impact, and making wireless networks smarter. We seek a skilled Senior System Engineer to design, develop, deploy, and validate cutting-edge solutions in dynamic spectrum access (DSA). This position emphasizes both algorithm development and practical implementation, leveraging AI/ML, AWS Cloud services, advanced propagation models, 4G/5G NR, and geospatial tools to optimize wireless systems. The role provides opportunities to work on a diverse range of projects, from developing algorithms to implementing scalable solutions that address real-world challenges in wireless communication and spectrum management. This role reports to our VP, Chief Spectrum Architect. Your Impact • Algorithm Development: o Research, design, and develop machine learning algorithms for adaptive spectrum management, dynamic spectrum access, RF propagation modeling, and interference mitigation. o Train and optimize AI/ML models using large datasets of wireless measurements and radio environment data. o Conduct simulations to evaluate performance, complexity, and cost trade-offs. o Collaborate on architecting current and next-generation processing algorithms for efficient resource allocation. • Implementation: o Transition algorithms into scalable, production-ready microservices on AWS Cloud platforms. o Develop geospatial processing workflows using tools like GDAL, rasterio, geopandas, shapely, LAStools, and laspy to support spectrum analysis, planning, and optimization. o Participate in code debugging, verification, and product launches. • System Design and Analysis: o Utilize advanced propagation models and geospatial tools to simulate and analyze RF performance: ? ITM (Irregular Terrain Model), E-HATA (Extended HATA), ITU models (P.452, P.2108), ray-tracing techniques (including AI-enhanced ray-tracing). ? Familiarity with LIDAR data processing using libraries such as LAStools and laspy. ? Proficiency in geospatial processing using tools like GDAL, rasterio, geopandas, and shapely. ? Familiarity with commercial propagation modeling tools such as ATOLL, Planet, iBWave, and Hamina. o Analyze geospatial and wireless performance data to support customer optimization and planning. o Conduct architecture trade studies to assess and optimize system scalability, cost, and performance. • Testing and Prototyping: o Develop prototypes to prove key design concepts and quantify technical constraints. o Create and execute automated test frameworks, including unit, integration, and stress tests, to validate algorithms. o Conduct performance profiling and optimization for both cloud and edge-based deployments. • Collaboration: o Work closely with cross-functional teams in an Agile environment to align development efforts with project objectives. o Contribute to technical documentation, reporting, and patent applications.

Required Qualifications:

Your Experience • Education Degree and Related Experience: o Bachelor’s and 5+ years, or o Master’s in electrical engineering, computer engineering, applied mathematics, physics, systems engineering, or a related discipline and 3+ years, or o PhD in electrical engineering, computer engineering, applied mathematics, physics, systems engineering, or a related discipline, with no experience • Experience in programming languages such as Python and C/C++ for algorithm development and software implementation. • Able to critically evaluate different technical approaches and make informed recommendations. • Excellent active listening skills, able to understand and address stakeholder needs. • Highly adaptable and comfortable working in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Knowledge of RF systems and fundamentals, including antenna modeling, aggregate interference calculations, and link budget analysis preferred. • Expertise in AWS Cloud services, including EC2, ECS, EBS, S3, and Lambda a plus. • Proficiency in advanced propagation models and geospatial tools as outlined above a plus. • Knowledge of 4G/5G NR technologies, including network slicing, beamforming, and massive MIMO a plus. • Proficiency in performance profiling and cost/complexity trade-off analysis a plus.
