Position Summary Morven Park, Loudoun County’s 1,000-acre backyard, is where our visitors know they can find their “happy place.” We are looking to expand our Buildings & Grounds Team to help us maintain and enhance this magnificent historic estate and equestrian center. Morven Park Located in Leesburg, Virginia, Morven Park is owned and operated by The Westmoreland Davis Memorial Foundation, a non-profit organization, with most of the property under a permanent conservation easement. The expansive grounds feature meadows, trails, and gardens that consistently generate compliments from our visitors. Our Buildings & Grounds Team is foundational to our success, so we invite you to bring your groundskeeping talents and then expand your knowledge and skills as you work alongside our horticulturist to keep our green spaces healthy and beautiful. Occasional weekend and after-hours event preparation and support is eligible for overtime compensation. Morven Park offers competitive wages based on experience, with benefits for full-time employees including: - Fully paid employee insurance premiums (medical, dental, vision, and life/disability) - Paid time off - Observance of federal holidays - Automatic enrollment in 401(k) plan with company match Our ideal candidate will: - Bring at least one year of experience in gardening, groundskeeping, and/or landscaping. - Be able to perform a wide range of tasks such as planting, watering, fertilizing, and monitoring flowers and other plants; pruning a variety of trees and shrubs; mowing and trimming lawns; mulching, edging, and weeding gardens; and keeping green spaces and walkways clear of debris and litter, while following health and safety regulations. - Safely operate company vehicles and use and maintain essential equipment such as mowers, trimmers, blowers, saws, etc. - Participate in removal of snow, ice, and tree debris to keep the site open and safe for visitors and staff. - Be able to work independently with minimal supervision as well as function effectively within a multi-disciplinary team, in a rapidly changing environment. - Demonstrate effective communication skills in a variety of circumstances, including interacting with visitors. - Be willing and able to work weekends and after hours, as needed. - Have a current/valid Driver’s License and be an insured driver. - Possess a high school diploma or equivalent; coursework in horticulture or a related field preferred. - Be able to successfully pass a background check (required of all Park employees) and provide work references. Physical Requirements - Perform work in all types of weather, often for extended periods of time. - Transfer machinery, equipment, and supplies in excess of 50 pounds. - Able to traverse various types of terrain that may be rough, uneven, or slippery.
