E.C. Pace Company is seeking a self-motivated, detail-oriented Estimator to join our growing team. The ideal candidate will possess a comprehensive understanding of heavy civil construction, including water and sewer infrastructure, roadbuilding, and earthwork. This position requires the ability to work both independently and as part of a team. The successful candidate must also be a versatile communicator, skilled at translating complex technical requirements into clear instructions for audiences of diverse professional backgrounds. Duties of this position Bidding and Estimating: • Estimating and bidding of construction projects – detailed takeoffs, establishing self-perform and subcontractor project scopes, preform activity specific cost breakdowns. • Establish clear understanding of project specifications and identify project specific bid requirements. • Communicate with project owners and engineers both verbally and in writing to be able to ask questions and receive clarifications. • Development of relationships with subcontractors and suppliers, effectively communicate project scopes and solicit quotes. • Identify project specific risks and opportunities (value engineering). • Coordinate with estimating team to ensure all project costs are accurately captured and risks have been assessed. Preconstruction: • Coordinate closely with project managers and superintendents to ensure a seamless and well-organized transition from estimating to field operations. • Once a bid has been submitted, follow up with all project specific post-submission requirements, including MBE/DBE forms, qualification statements, safety records and any other required documentation. • Prepare, distribute, and monitor material submittals to support timely review and approval. • Draft, issue, and evaluate subcontracts to help ensure construction compliance, scope clarity, and contract readiness. • Assist with acquiring any project specific off-site facilities. This includes preparing property agreements and permit coordination. • Assist construction staff with change orders and cost-related questions during construction. • Develop CMP construction schedules and coordinate with construction staff and outside consultants.
Required Qualifications:
• Bachelor’s degree in civil engineering, construction management or related field or equivalent experience. • Minimum two years of previous estimating experience. • Ability to read and interpret plans. • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including technical writing. • Strong math skills including 3-dimensional geometry. • Expected to work under minimal management supervision.
