The Piedmont Environmental Council (PEC) is seeking to hire a part-time HR & Payroll Specialist to work in our headquarters office in Warrenton, VA. This individual will provide support to the HR Department in basic day-to-day functions, including payroll processing and providing essential administrative support across the human resources spectrum. This role will require a high level of numerical accuracy for payroll operations, paired with strong interpersonal skills to handle employee relations, onboarding, benefits administration and compliance. PEC has a staff of approximately 60 employees and a broad offering of benefits. This is a part-time, non-exempt, hourly position with minimal benefits. Salary range is $25.00 to $30.00 per hour, commensurate with experience. Part-time or seasonal employees generally receive minimal fringe benefits, including: ? Hybrid work environment and flexible work schedule. ? Cell phone reimbursement, up to $75 per month ? Travel expenses / mileage reimbursement
Required Qualifications:
? Associate’s degree in a related field or equivalent practical experience ? 1-3 years’ experience handling payroll and human resource coordination ? Experience with automated payroll systems (Dominion Payroll / iSolved) ? Experience with and basic understanding of employee benefits ? Strong work ethic and commitment to PEC’s core values, mission and vision ? Proficiency in or willingness to learn and excel in the following software (or similar): project management systems (Asana), MS Office Suite and Google Suite ? Strong ability to plan, organize, prioritize and coordinate multiple projects with initiative and time management skills to meet deadlines consistently ? Strong interpersonal skills and collaborative abilities, including the ability to work with people of diverse backgrounds and work styles ? Exceptional attention to detail and accuracy, and strict adherence to confidentiality ? Ability to work independently after initial instruction ? Ability to prioritize among competing demands (with direction)
Preferred Qualifications:
? Human resources certification such as SHRM-CP or equivalent or a Bachelor’s degree in a related field preferred ? Experience in a nonprofit setting preferred
