Luxury residential custom home builder based in McLean, VA is actively seeking an interior design star to add to their already impressive team. This is a newly created position for the firm and will have tremendous freedom to create and design in an entrepreneurial environment! The Interior Designer will have a passion for and experience with modern and contemporary design, with strong ability to create and curate designs based on conversations with the client. This role offers the opportunity to have freedom to create in different styles and participate in the entire life cycle of a project; from pre-sales discussions through build and close out. As a key member of the client delivery team, you will lead the creative discussions and will collaborate directly with each client on their customized vision. Being a thought leader with the latest interior design trends, products and vendors is imperative. Experience with the latest design technology, including Revit and CAD, is preferred. Responsibilities: *Participate in meetings with prospective clients to offer ideas, recommendations, and advice *Determine the client’s goals and requirements for the project and work closely with the firm’s principal to develop aesthetic design concepts; scope of work and project budgets in coordination with client *Consider how the space will be used and how people will move through the space *Generate Schematic design, including lighting layouts. *Prepare presentations (3D, 2D, mock-ups and renderings) for clients *Specify materials and finishes, such as lighting, paint selection, wall finishes, finished carpentry design, flooring, cabinetry, and plumbing fixtures, and notate selections in specs prior to bidding/contract *Review selections to verify cohesiveness of vision, verifying appropriate sizes, scale, finishes, etc *Create a timeline for the interior design project and estimate project costs. Create quotes for clients and ensure full workflow is followed *Communicate effectively with clients, vendors, and the team in order to address ongoing needs. Attend all touch point meetings and frequently visit job sites to inspect quality and monitor installs relating to selections; recommending corrections on installs as required. *Maintain industry knowledge in order to stay relevant and research and identify vendors based on value and leading industry design trends
Required Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in Interior Design or Interior Architecture (or related program). 4+ years of experience in related field Proficient in CAD, Revit, and Microsoft Office suite Strong creative and communication skills, with a desire to delight customers Demonstrated ability to execute projects with impeccable attention to detail and organizational skills Residential new construction interior design experience preferred
