HR Leaves Analyst
Virginia Tech - Virginia (Blacksburg)
Reporting to the Leaves Manager, the HR Leaves Analyst is responsible for providing detailed leave information to members of the University community regarding the Paid Parental Leave, Family & Medical Leave Act (FMLA) and Virginia Tech leave programs. The incumbent serves as a resource to employees and department representatives to assist with interpretation and understanding of leave benefit and ensuring that practices are in compliance with policies, procedures and federal and state regulations.
Required Qualifications:
The successful candidate must have human resources experience or experience in a related field; strong customer service skills; proficiency with standard computer skills such as word processing, data entry, spreadsheets, email and internet navigation; strong interpersonal and communication skills; ability to work in a fast paced high volume work environment; ability to organize, plan, prioritize work, and handle multiple tasks simultaneously; ability to effectively interpret and disseminate policies and procedures to the public; ability to analyze data, draw conclusions, exercise sound judgment, and prepare reports; ability to work independently with minimal supervision; ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with professional and support staff, contract personnel, and employment/legal representatives.
Preferred Qualifications:
Degree in human resources or a related field (or commensurate experience); experience working with large relational databases such as Banner; experience with web based leave reporting processes and applications; working knowledge of university and state policies and procedures; experience with payroll, employee deductions, and human resource transactions; strong understanding of FMLA and state leave regulations; experience in applying and/or providing guidance on leave policies; experience with PageUp.
