Queenfield Golf Club - Virginia (Richmond/Manquin)
Our current Superintendent of 16 years is retiring and we are seeking to hire a qualified individual soon. The current Superintendent will assist in the transition if needed and would like to do so before mid-October. Queenfield Golf Club is a stand-alone 18 hole public course with L93 bentgrass greens. Tees and fairways are bermudagrass with a sprinkling of zoyzia grass in a few high traffic areas. Toro irrigation was installed in 2001. We have an adequate maintenance shop and an adequate maintenance budget. The General Manager is an active participant in the daily duties of maintenance if needed. Queenfield will hire soon to allow an easier transition through the winter months and allow adequate preparation for Spring. Applicant must be have a current applicators license. Must have Golf Course Superintendent experience or Assistant Superintendent experience of at least 5 years. Must have great leadership skills, good communication skills and be a team player. Must have the ability to hire, train and supervise employees in a positive, encouraging manner. Must have a knowledge of tools and equipment used on golf course and general maintenance and organization skill. Must have knowledge and ability to safely operate and maintain all necessary equipment or ability to learn quickly. Must have experience of basic facilities maintenance including irrigation, drainage and turfgrass disease diagnosis. Should have a strong background in turfgrass agronomy. Must have knowledge of a working budget. Must have a working knowledge of commonly used Turfgrass pesticides, fungicides and fertilizer material. Must have a valid drivers license. Must pass a physical, back ground check and drug screen at Queenfield GC expense.
Required Qualifications:
Associates degree in Turfgrass Management with 5 years experience as Assistant Superintendent or better.
Preferred Qualifications:
BS in Turfgrass Management with 5 years experience as Assistant Superintendent or better.
