With a broad product portfolio, focus areas include hardline and softline products sold in our General Merchandise department, Health & Wellness, and other consumer product areas. We assure safe products from the supplier to the customers’ homes. As a Product Quality Manager I, you will manage individual business category work for product development and maintenance of Hardline and Softline products. You will collaborate with multiple teams and suppliers throughout the project execution. Required Qualifications:
We are looking for: a degree in physical, life, or applied science, such as engineering, or related field quality assurance experience in a nonfood manufacturing setting strong organization, problem-solving, influencing, and interpersonal skills What is the work? Management / Quality Assurance: Develops / maintains OB products or products perceived by customers as H-E-B’s including FOB direct import items; follows established development / maintenance processes for products, including supplier assessments, product specification management, production approval, and planned maintenance assessments of suppliers / products based on established risks Manages product development projects, risk assessments, supplier assessments, product specifications, maintenance program, quality management processes, product inspections and effectively responds to supplier and product issues Ensures product specifications are adequately defined to meet customer / business requirements Manages supply chain security and social accountability / compliance programs as assigned Serves as a knowledgeable resource in assigned business categories for product development, supplier management, product safety and quality Researches and determines local, state, federal and international regulatory requirements and deploys the use of voluntary standards for assigned categories and products Collaborates with 3rd party service providers on protocol development, product testing requirements, factory audits, and product inspections to ensure product safety, regulatory compliance, and H-E-B quality initiatives are met Builds professional working relationships with suppliers; effectively holds suppliers accountable to H-E-B standards Directs suppliers / vendors to achieve product execution and maintenance of intended product function; objectively assesses supplier’s manufacturing and quality systems to ensure they meet H-E-B standards and the intended lifecycle or shelf-life Maintains strong collaborative working relationships with cross-functional team members and Leadership; collaborates with multiple internal / external teams and suppliers throughout project scope Performs a broad range of quality assurance activities to mitigate product risk as assigned on a project basis Conducts risk assessments to determine risk levels associated with suppliers, products, processes, and projects; communicates potential / realized risk to leader Ensures H-E-B suppliers meet established standards for product safety and quality; notifies leader of poor supplier performance and ensures effective, timely supplier corrective actions Supports implementation of department processes, standards, policies, and projects in a timely manner Identifies and communicates opportunities for category improvement based on emerging industry trends and threats in the areas of product safety and quality Follows cost savings and reduction measures for assigned area May perform Sr. Product Quality Technologist tasks as needed Compliance: Performs a broad range of quality assurance activities; closely works with Agents, Brokers, and Sourcing; focuses on factory and product qualifications through review of audits, testing and inspection records; conducts evaluations and risk assessments to determine risk levels associated with suppliers, products, and projects What is your background? Bachelor's degree in physical, life, or applied science, such as engineering, or related field (master’s / graduate degree preferred) 7+ years of related experience 2+ years of experience in quality systems auditing Experience working in a team environment and influencing business decisions Experience in quality assurance in a manufacturing setting (preferred) Experience in retail or consumer products (preferred) Industry-specific certifications / training based on area(s) of responsibility (external certifications preferred include ASQ Certified Quality Auditor, ASQ Certified HACCP Auditor, ASQ Six Sigma and /or relevant Product Safety certification courses) Do you have what it takes to be fit as an H-E-B Product Quality Manager I? Demonstrated ability to manage the safety and quality of products and suppliers within assigned categories Fundamental knowledge in manufacturing systems, product safety and quality management, GMPs, microbiology, sanitation standard operating procedures, pest management, statistical process control, hazard analysis, risk assessments and mitigation Demonstrated experience implementing quality management principles and concepts and troubleshooting gaps in existing systems Working knowledge of CPSC, FDA, EPA, FTC, DOE, CBP and other applicable agencies as part of managing 3rd party product testing and/or certification requirements of consumer products Strong organization, problem-solving, influencing, and interpersonal skills Proficiency in MS Office applications, planning / scheduling tools and leverage internal systems Ability to prioritize and manage multiple priorities / projects; shift focus between tasks Ability to work independently and communicate with leader as needed Can you...
